Harvard Medical School Agrees Cranberries Prevent UTI!

The FDA claims that only drugs are allowed to cure, prevent or treat disease. But in spite of the fact that food is not a drug there is no denying the medicinal effects of countless foods, minerals and herbs.

Unfortunately less than 20% of our medical institutions and universities even teach a course in the benefits of nutrition. Fact: Most of the mandatory courses in med school are underwritten by big pharmaceutical companies . . . go figure.

It seems apparent that things are finally, slowly turning around. Recently Harvard Medical School’s top research team reported undeniable evidence that a daily consumption of cranberry products reduce the risk of Urinary Tract Infections.

The study claims the benefit of cranberry fruit is most affective for women who suffer from recurrent UTIs. After identifying 10 studies, involving a total of more than 1,000 participants their results concluded an overall reduction factor of 35% of UTI incidences.

The only argument was over which source of cranberry products worked the best. They compared non-standardized sources of cranberry as capsules, tablets and juice.

Obviously the more natural the source the better your results will be as with all natural remedies. The curing factors are attributed to compounds called polyphenols which have powerful anti-oxidant properties.

Bottom line is cranberry extracts have been shown to activate a cellular defense shield that prevents the E. coli bacteria from sticking to the walls of the urinary tract.

The researchers noted the only downside was that cranberry juice was high in calories. I believe this is a moot point myself seeing how all pasteurized juices have additional sugar added into the product.

My advice is not to let that discourage you in the least. A good dietary extract would eliminate this concern easily. If you are serious about your health and stopping the scourge of recurring UTIs, simply juice or blend your own fresh, raw natural source of cranberries and drink to your health.

Your goal is to avoid taking antibiotics like the plague and cranberries are a great way to do that.
